Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat- Diverting from the pressures of academic requirements in the classroom, the Notre Dame of Tacurong College- College Department had jubilantly brought merriment to college students, teachers and staff as it paved the way to the most anticipated event in the campus- KUYAW ULTIMATE: The College Week 2016 with the theme “Merging the Past and Present to Unleash the True Damean Spirit.”
The three-day celebration from September 14 until September 16, 2016 filled the campus with aggregately friendly competition, fun aura and superb excitement as Team A: Golden Harpies, Team B: Crystal Centaur, and Team C: Aqua Siren competed against one another in different competitions.
The grand opening ceremony was graced with the presence of NDTC Administrators headed by the school president, Rev. Fr. Jessie P. Pasquin, DCC. It was filled with applauded talents shared by Teatro Balintataw highlighting their breath-stopping fire dance, Criminology students performing an entertaining mass dance, and per team’s cheer of confidence and enthusiasm revealing their desire to compete for the coveted championship.
As the torch, had been lighted by Mr. Reymart Rodriguez together with the CSC President and Team Leaders, screams covered the whole gymnasium and the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline and honesty was invited to touch everyone as the celebration had to officially commence.
The night of Day 1 had thrilled all spectators as the six pairs of candidates in the search for Mr. and Miss Damean 2016 exuded their innate talents that showed forth values of a true Damean.
Days 2 and 3 were undeniably enjoyed by students participating in the different competitions, and to wit: Stylized Talakudong, Socio-cultural Competitions, Ball and Board Games, and Search for Mr. and Miss DAMEAN 2016. Meanwhile, the whole campus was in melodious atmosphere as songs of the 50’s to 90’s serenaded each one’s ears to sustain this year’s throwback concept anchored to the theme.
The highlight of this year’s celebration: The search for Mr. and Ms. Damean 2016 had patently incited the crowd to give their wildest support and yells for their bets who vied for the various pageant special, minor and major awards. In the end, Mr. Kriston Jasper Cabacug of Team A and Ms. Airen Marie Lumantas of Team B victoriously bagged the Mr. and Ms. Damean 2016 titles respectively.
The official and final tally of gold showed that this year’s champion is Team B, followed by Team A, then Team C.
Aiming to merge the past and the present, Kuyaw Ultimate 2016 had with assurance provided avenues for everyone to seize the fact that preserving the wisdoms of the yesterday has anenormous impact on building the grandeur of today so Dameans can exuberate their values, personalities and aspirations.
